1. Nature Mint Farm
Nature Mints are vital for competitive training as they allow you to change a Pokémon’s nature to favor specific stats. For example, the Red Mint is related to Attack while the Cyan Mint is related to Special Attack. You can find these growing naturally in the wild, break them for seeds, and plant them like a normal crop.
While there are currently no fully automatic designs for this farm, you can easily grow them manually with bone meal. Using three mints of one color and one mint of another will create a mint that raises the stat of the three mint color and lessens the stat of the one color mint. For example three red mints and one cyan mint makes an adamant mint. This is an essential first step for any trainer looking to optimize their team's strength.
2. Sculk Farm
If you want to craft experience or IV candies efficiently, a Sculk Farm is a mandatory addition to your base. Sculk generated by this farm is the primary ingredient needed for these powerful training items. You can find sculk in the Deep Dark, but bringing a block back to your base allows you to generate more nearby whenever a mob is killed.
One of the best aspects of this farm is that it can double as a food or resource farm. By killing mobs near the sculk, you can simultaneously collect sculk, meat, leather, and other vital materials. This makes it one of the most efficient multi-purpose builds available in the mod.
3. Medicinal Leak Farm
Medicinal Leaks are the backbone of healing and remain useful throughout your entire survival journey. They are incredibly easy to farm because they can be planted directly on the surface of any water source. You can find them growing in various water-rich biomes across the world.
Because almost every healing item in the game requires these leaks, starting a farm near your base is highly recommended. You can set this farm up in less than five minutes, providing a permanent solution to your healing needs. This simplicity makes it a perfect early-game project for new players.
4. Revival Herb & Vivichoke Farm
In Cobblemon 1.7, Revival Herbs and Vivichokes are essential for crafting Revives and Max Revives. Revival Herbs are also used to obtain pep-up flowers, which are a necessary component for making Aprijuice to improve your ride Pokémon. You can obtain Vivichoke seeds by trading with villagers.
While Revival Herbs can still be found in Lush Caves, the best way to farm them is by using bone meal on a Petilil. This new 1.7 mechanic instantly yields the herb and makes large-scale farming much easier than in previous versions. These plants are also involved in many of the new cooking recipes, making them a high priority for trainers.
5. Energy Root Farm
Energy Roots have become significantly more important because they are a required ingredient for crafting Aprijuice. These crops must be grown in dark environments, such as caves, to thrive. You can find them growing naturally underground as either Big Roots or Energy Roots.
When harvesting, there is a chance the plant will drop either a Big Root or an Energy Root, though only the latter is used for juice. It is a slow-growing farm, so it is best to start a large-scale cave operation early in your playthrough. You can use redstone-controlled lights to see while you harvest and then turn them off to let the crops grow.
Why Build Farms on a Multiplayer Server?
Building these farms is especially beneficial if you play on a multiplayer server with friends. A centralized farming hub can supply your entire group with the resources needed to breed, catch, and battle without everyone needing to grind individually. If you haven't set one up yet, check out my guide on how to make a Cobblemon server to easily create a world where you and your friends can share these amazing automated builds.
6. Automatic Iron Farm
While not exclusive to Pokémon, an Automatic Iron Farm is one of the most helpful builds for any Cobblemon playthrough. Iron is a primary ingredient for nearly everything, from basic tools to advanced Pokéball recipes. Setting up an iron golem-based farm provides a high-output source that saves you from hours of mining.
Even 30 minutes of AFK time at a well-built iron farm can provide more resources than you will likely ever need. This allows you to focus your time entirely on catching and training Pokémon instead of gathering materials. It remains one of the most efficient ways to streamline your progression.
7. Honey Bottle Farm
Honey Bottles are essential in the 1.7 update for crafting Poke Snacks, which are arguably the best items for attracting rare Pokémon. For a semi-automatic setup, you can place a Vespiquen in a pasture block and right-click it with a glass bottle to gather honey. This is a very easy day-one farm that provides immediate value.
For a more advanced and automatic version, you can utilize a Saccharine tree. Combee will put honey on the Saccharine tree leaves, which you can then harvest for bottles. This method also allows you to "slather" the tree, which has the added benefit of spawning Pokémon with Hidden Abilities.
8. Hearty Grains Farm
Hearty Grains are a versatile new crop found exclusively in swamp biomes. They are a core ingredient in almost every major cooking recipe, including the highly effective Poke Snacks. It is important to note that their spawn location was updated in 1.7 to only include swamps.
The unique advantage of this farm is that harvesting the grains does not break the bottom of the plant. This allows the crop to regrow automatically without the need for replanting, making it extremely low-maintenance. Additionally, you can use these grains to craft Tatami mats, which are excellent for dojo-style builds.
9. Mutating Berry Farm
There are a vast variety of berries in Cobblemon, and they are used in many vital recipes for shiny hunting and friendship. Starting a berry farm early is crucial because many of the best berries must be obtained through mutation. This process can be time-consuming, so the sooner you start, the better.
Berries are needed for everything from raising EVs and friendship to increasing your odds of finding Hidden Abilities. By focusing on a dedicated mutation layout, you can unlock rare berries that aren't easily found in the wild. This farm is essential for any player looking to master the deep mechanics of the mod.
10. Automatic Apricorn Farm
The absolute best farm in Cobblemon is the Automatic Apricorn Farm. Apricorns are one of the few crops that can be fully automated without any issues. This farm is relatively simple to set up within your first few days and ensures you have a constant supply of Pokéball materials.
Having an infinite supply of Apricorns eliminates the stress of running out of balls while hunting rare or legendary Pokémon. It is the ultimate "set it and forget it" farm that will support you through your entire playthrough. Once built, you'll never have to worry about manual harvesting again.
