Larvitar Spawn Locations
Larvitar only spawns in Mountain biomes so you will need to hunt in one of those in order to catch it
It is slightly more common when it is dark, so I recommend that you don't sleep and instead spend the night somewhere safe in a mountain biome to increase the chance of Larvitar spawning
Once you've picked the area you want to search in, the greatest challenge to catching Larvitar is boredom. Patience will be the key to catching a Larvitar and as such I have found it's much easier to hunt for Larvitar when you are doing something else at the same time. I recommend training your Pokemon, mining for resources, or building a cool structure in your world. These tasks will help you to not get bored and quit as you wait for a Larvitar to spawn.
I highly recommend using the pokenav mod so you don't waste time hunting in an area where larvitar can't actually spawn.
My favorite structure to build in biomes while I'm hunting for rare Pokemon like Larvitar is a Pokemon Center. It helps the world come alive and feel more like a true Pokemon game. The video below gives a step-by-step tutorial on how to build a Pokemon Center if you would like to do so while hunting Larvitar.
Evolving Larvitar to Tyranitar
Larvitar evolves into Pupitar at level 30, and then into Tyranitar at level 55.
You can use experience shares to help raise your larvitar's level more easily. Plains and snowy biomes are the best places to train if you want to level up your Pokemon quickly. I recommend targeting high-level common pokemon like Tauros and Wyrdeer.
